Thoughts for the Schumacher Family

by Friends of Kurt Schumacher on 04/14/12

In this sad time, it is difficult to express feelings. So lets talk about Kurt as we remember how loved he was. Kurt was an honorable man and true to his word. Kurt taught us what hard work is and what determination means. How rewarding it is to live and work a resort where "there is no place better in the world than right here." Our memories run long. We have so much respect for this great man. Please share your thoughts with his family.

Can't find the words to express my sorrow and sympathy. I am stunned. "Some people come into our lives and quickly go, others stay for a while and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never the same." The short amount of time Kurt was in my life, he impacted me greatly. I will miss him.
3. Carlson's said on 4/14/12 - 06:48PM
Schumacher family, out hearts are filled with great sadness at this news. Kurt was an extraordinary man and it was a honor to call him friend. Call us if you need anything.
4. Nancy Lange said on 4/14/12 - 06:48PM
Kurt will always be remembered. He went out of his way to make our stay at the cabin memorable. He spent time with my grandson teaching him guy stuff when he had a million other things to do, but Kurt was like that. He treated us like we were more important than anything he had going on. We will truly miss Kurt. My heart goes out to you and your family. You are all so very special.
5. Shawna Lindgren said on 4/14/12 - 08:25PM
My heart goes out Kurt's entire family. I always enjoyed finding out where the fish were biting or hearing Kurt's stories. Crooked Lake wont be the same without him. Patti and Nate our family will be thinking about you. I sure hope God will comfort you and know that he will forever be on the lake he loved.
6. Anita Nelson said on 4/14/12 - 09:08PM

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time. May God lift the pain from your heart and replace it with the wonderful memories you hold so dear. We know Kurt will be with you always in your hearts. I have a feeling that no matter where we are on that lake, Kurt will still be telling us where the fish are biting. Love and prayers.

My prayers go out to all of Kurts family, We feel Crooked Lake is another part of our extended family, has been apart of my life since I was young. It won't be the same but I have a feeling no matter where people are on the resort Kurt will always be there. Thinking of you all in this sad time.
10. Dan and Emma Westlund said on 4/15/12 - 10:26AM
Kurt will definitely be missed. We'd come up for July 4th week each summer and the second we pulled up there he'd be. And the fireworks display he put on for hours and hours on the 4th each year. He was such an awesome guy.
11. Chris Sinderman said on 4/15/12 - 11:39AM
Kurt was a very good friend of mine and I am going to miss him very very much. there is not enough words to say what a good friend was to me.
12. Gregg Luoma said on 4/15/12 - 12:09PM
I haven't known Kurt,Patty and Nate for that many years but you don't have to know how absolutely great they are. Their life together was like the perfect puzzle, now there is a huge piece missing that can't be replaced. Oh how I'll miss ariving at the resort and having a few beers with Kurt and shooting the s---t with him. Some say God does things for a reason, the only thing I can think is that heaven is broken and they need him to fix it. My heart is hurting deeply for the family, I will never understand it,my prayers are with you, God Bless.
13. Gregg Luoma said on 4/15/12 - 12:53PM
It's difficult to comment on Kurt in just a few sentences, we will all miss the times around the campfire when the whole family comes visits, or the Foosball games at the Tressle. Kurt wasn't just the Crooked Lake Resort he was the whole area, everybody knew him, depended on him when we were in trouble when we needed a hand. If he didn't have what you needed he would figure something out to make it work. Screw McGiver!! What would Kurt Do!!
14. Sarah Somnis @ Trestle said on 4/15/12 - 02:11PM
There are no words to decribe the saddness i feel for your family. These woods have lost a good man. I had great comfort knowing that Kurt was right next door in the event of an emergency. He cared for so many in so many ways and he will be greatly missed. I know that will will miss the laughs over a "couple" mic golden lights on friday nights. These woods will never be the same.

Kurt will live on in the hearts and actions of all those who knew him, worked with him, and played with him. His shining example was one of compassion, perspective and humor. I'll remember all three, but I'll miss his humor the most.

Our hearts go out to you all. We will always remember all the good times at Crooked lake at the little shack. The get togethers around the stove, the wild stories...just fun stuff! The wided-eyed look I got when he tried to scared me with the snake and I took it away from him. He will forever missed.

Patty,Nate,Lee,and Nita... Like everyone else I'm shocked to hear that Kurt is gone! I am so very, very sorry for your loss. The Sindermans called to inform me, because as they said "We knew you'd want to know since you two graduated together." Well no...we've just known each other so long it seems that way. Kurt and I were work partners in the crusher back in the Reserve Mining days... maybe 2 years out of high school? We spent a lot of time together and I must say the only topic he had to talk about was this really cute girl he had fallen head over heels with named Patty Aldinger. As we all know the rest is history. To this day, because of the history Kurt,Patty,Nate,Lee,Nita, and myself have shared... I know we got each others backs. Let me know if you guys need anything! I'm a teacher now and have summers off, which I spend in Finland. So Sorry Gayle

We are all so sorry to hear about Kurt. He had an amazing way with people; a real gift. I remember Kurt gladly giving a tour of all of the outhouses at Crooked Lake to a little boy with autism as if it was something he did every day. Years ago I wrote a poem called "Beautiful Hearts" and I can't think of anyone whom it fits better than Kurt: Beautiul faces abound, it's true though beautiful hearts there are but few. On God's good earth are rare indeed, but while they're here they plant a seed of love and kindness never spent, of joy that truly is God-sent. To say these words is my endeavor: Beautiful Hearts Live Forever. (c)DLarson

Patty, Nate, Lee and Neta, With great sorrow we got the news last night of Kurt's passing. Fred Veihman had left a message on our telephone answering machine. Kurt was a giant among men and the "go to guy" for all his neighbors and friends. We cherish the years of his friendship. He has helped these Texans out of many jams. It won't be the same without him, but we will hold on to all those good memories. God bless you and your family. You are in our prayers.

MY ONE TRUE LOVE
Obituary Notice
Obituary
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the wonderful people for the love shown to our son, husband, father and friend. We are grateful for the time we had with Kurt as he was truly a happy man. He lived his life to the fullest doing the all the things he loved best - taking time for close family and friends, hunting, fishing, spending time in the great outdoors and telling it like it is. His love for gardening kept us and many others in fresh vegetables, salsa and pickles. Not to mention the values we learned from a hard day of work. We went on many road trips as a family and spent a lot of evenings just doing whatever. We have enjoyed running the resort together and will continue to carry on his legacy with Kurts memory guiding us every step of the way. We have so much to be thankful for as we are surrounded by many great friends to support us on our journey.
